Percentages in this statistic are calculated by dividing the total population of women in poverty by the total population of women.

This metric shows preschool-aged children enrolled in preschool. The percentage is calculated by dividing the number of children enrolled in public or private preschools by the estimated number of preschool-aged children. This estimate is described below. We used Census table BI4003 to disaggregate by gender and B104007 to disaggregate by race.

Note: This measure does have some limitations. Depending on when during the year a child is born, he or she enrolls in kindergarten at age 5 or 6, meaning some 5-year-old children are still in a preschool program. Therefore, the numerator and denominator of this measure may not always line up perfectly. Fortunately, there is relatively little variation in the ACS population estimates by age, so a denominator that includes half the 3-year-old children, all the 4-year-old children, and half the 5-year-old children is comparable to the denominator of 3- and 4-year-olds we used here.

Data from this statistic comes directly from the Census. Tract-level statistics use five-year estimates from the American Community Survey (ACS), while county-level statistics use ACS one-year estimates.

This statistic shows the gross domestic product (GDP) per capita. The calculation was made by dividing the GDP for the area by the total population, providing an estimate of economic output per individual.

This statistic shows the percentage of all women ages 18 and older who are incarcerated.

Note: The data used to identify the number of incarcerated women only shows women in prison facilities that have been reported by DOC. The following prison facilities in Oklahoma and Tulsa counties were used: Dr. Eddie Warrior Correctional Center, Mabel Bassett Assessment & Reception Center, Oklahoma City Community Correctional Center, and Mabel Bassett Correctional Center.

Data from American Community Survey census provides an estimate of the number of foster children per census tract.

This metric displays the number of families earning below the self-sufficiency wages. We define self-sufficiency as at or below 200% of the federal poverty line. Values are calculated by the Census.

The data for this metric is from the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance Survey (BRFSS) and estimates the population who would respond that they have serious difficulty concentrating, remembering, or making decisions. The statistic divides those estimates by the BRFSS estimates for the total population.

This statistic was calculated by dividing adults ages 18 and over with depression by the population of adults ages 18 and over. Note: data from the disaggregates are from the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS).

The data for this metric is from the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance Survey (BRFSS) and estimates the population aged 18 and older who would respond that they experienced at least 14 mentally unhealthy days within the past 30 days at the time of response. The statistic divides those estimates by the BRFSS estimates for the total population 18 and older.
